Bangladesh Chhatra League has suspended their Barisal unit’s Secretary General Asim Dewan for breaching the party’s code of conduct after his arrest. The victim of the abduction is the daughter of a BNP leader from Barisal. Police tracked the vehicle down, along with the culprits and the victim, in Rupganj-Murapara ferryghat around 10:30pm,” added Ismail Hossain. Meanwhile, BCL President Saifur Rahman Sohag and General Secretary SM Zakir Hossain issued a signed press release, stating that Asim Dewan (general secretary, BCL, Barisal) has been suspended from the party by decision of the Bangladesh Chhatra League Central Executive Committee on Tuesday. Sources claim that Asim Dewan had distanced himself from representing the BCL unit of Barisal, despite his post as its general secretary.
