A retired bureaucrat himself, Mahmud was speaking as chief guest at a seminar titled 'The role of media in fighting corruption' at the Press Institute of Bangladesh auditorium. "We received that report after 10 months in February when the dam had been damaged and many areas have been submerged," he added. "Bureaucracy is our biggest problem. I was myself a bureaucrat, and I was a problem," Mahmud, who retired as senior secretary, said. He asked the organisations to take the help from the ACC if they face corruption in implementing big government projects.
