A Bangladeshi scientist in the US is developing software tools and theoretical underpinning needed to help convert algae into biofuel. “Algae are found to have good potential for providing biofuel at a higher rate compared to any other plants,” Hoque was quoted as saying. His lab will develop advanced algorithms for analysing and optimising gene regulatory network-based biofuel production modelling in algae. With co-principle investigator Shengru Tu, a computer science professor, principal investigator Hoque is helping NASA do a better job sharing information about its patented work. Hoque, who hails from Munshiganj, studied computer science at the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
