Following the execution, Pakistan‘s foreign ministry on Saturday termed the trial of Mir Quasem "flawed" and accused the Bangladesh government of muffling dissent through such executions. The Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan also expressed regret at the execution of Mir Quasem who was hanged for his involvement in atrocities against Bengalis during the Liberation War of 1971. We vehemently condemn this audacious act by Pakistan," the statement said. The Sector Commanders' Forum also asked the government to consider snapping diplomatic relations with Pakistan for its repeated verbal adventurism. "Pakistan will have to compensate for the human rights violations and mass murders unleashed by the pro-Pakistani people like Mir Quasem," the JaSod leaders said in a statement.
