Bangladesh will carry 16 to 17 cricketers to New Zealand who are part of the squad for the second Test against Pakistan. If the request for leave is permitted, Shakib will be missing his third consecutive tour of New Zealand. Bangladesh team ahead of the series, scheduled to start on January 1, will play two practice matches – one intrasquad and the second against a New Zealand XI. Bangladesh since 2001 have played 32 international games in New Zealand and have not been able to win one. Bangladesh in the last five Test matches against New Zealand have lost four with the other ending in draw.
