The move follows some media headlines over those drugs posing potential cancer risks. The United States recently recalled several drugs that contain Valsartan due to an “impurity” in the drug that poses a potential cancer risk. The ministry said the minister took the decision after a meeting with the relevant stakeholders including the drug administration and the representatives of the drug makers. Nasim called upon the drug-makers not to use the Valsartan raw materials in any drug. He also asked the drug administration to raise public awareness through advertisement after taking expert opinion.
