The tally of infections rose to 1,838 after another 266 new cases were detected in the same period, Health Minister Zahid Malik said on Friday. Friday’s death count sets a daily record in Bangladesh. Globally, more than 2.14 million people have been reported to be infected by the novel coronavirus and 143,744 have died, according to a Reuters tally. Infections have been reported in more than 210 countries and territories since the first cases were identified in China in December 2019.
