Bangladesh-UK agree to hold ‘strategic dialogue’

The foreign ministry said the first such dialogue would be held in Dhaka in March between Bangladesh foreign secretary and his British counterpart Permanent Undersecretary of UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. This was agreed between visiting UK Minister for Asia and the Pacific Alok Sharma and Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali in a meeting at the state guest house Padma Friday evening. Sharma expressed optimism that the dialogue would “play important role in further strengthening and widening Bangladesh – UK relations and take it to the next level”. It also has substantial business interests in Bangladesh and remains the second biggest foreign investor. He encouraged for more UK investments in areas like infrastructure, energy and power, ICT, healthcare services and reiterated that British trade delegation should visit Bangladesh to develop business partnerships.
