Bandar Mahkota Cheras commercial centre association (Persatuan Pusat Komersil Bandar Mahkota Cheras) chairman Terence Ee said this was the third protest they held regarding the issue. It is situated between Persiaran Mahkota Cheras 2 and Jalan Temenggung 1/9 (Zone A), Jalan Temenggung 7/9 (Zone B) in Seksyen 9. “We found out that the idea to make it a commercial site was suggested by two DAP councillors in 2014. Bandar Mahkota Cheras commercial centre association chairman Terence Ee claimed that some hawkers have illegally tapped electricity to power their stalls. When contacted, councillor Leong Chiew Sing confirmed that he and another councillor had indeed mooted the idea of turning the site into a commercial site for fruit sellers and parking lot.
