KUALA LUMPUR: Meeting his life partner while working at the Ampang Park shopping centre is the sweetest memory for a security supervisor of the country's oldest mall. The Ampang Park shopping centre, which began operations in 1973, will be demolished to make way for the construction of the Ampang Park Mass Rapid Transit station. Meanwhile, one of the traders, Mohamad Sharil, 38, described the closure of Ampang Park as a bitter episode for him as he grew up with his family money changer business at this 44-year-old shopping complex. “There used to be a theme park here similar to the one in Berjaya Times Square now. I used to spend time playing with friends here and before it is demolished I want to show my children the place that created 1,001 memories for me,” he said.
