PUTRAJAYA: Bahrain Ruler King Hamad Isa Al Khalifa (pic) is set to make a four-day state visit to Malaysia starting April 30. The historic state visit, which is aimed at enhancing ties between the two countries, will be the first by a Ruler of Bahrain since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Bahrain. "Despite 43 years of diplomatic relations, overall trade relations are rather modest, with two-way trade between Malaysia and Bahrain in 2016 valued at RM861.5mil. King Hamad will be accorded a full-fledged state welcoming ceremony at Parliament House on May 1. On May 2, King Hamad will have a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, which will be followed by both leaders witnessing the signing of several memoranda of understanding (MoU).
