PETALING JAYA: Youngster Lee Zii Jia’s (pic) bid to reach his first Grand Prix Gold final came undone when he lost in the semi-finals of the Bitburger Open in Germany. The 19-year-old, who also fell short in the Thailand Masters and Taiwan Open earlier this year, lost tamely 11-21, 12-21 to Denmark’s Rasmus Gemke at the Saarlandhalle Arena, Saarbrucken on Saturday. “I was really hoping to beat Rasmus so that I could make the final. Next time I’ll handle myself better in a situation like this,” said Zii Jia, who will now get ready for the Malaysian International Challenge in Pasir Gudang from Nov 14-19. 35 Jen-hao downed Holland’s Mark Caljouw 21-15, 16-21, 21-14 in the other semi-final.
