A shrimp aquaculture farm, which will be fully operational by next year, is expected to reap an annual turnover of RM300 million in the near future. “The capacity should be between 10,000 and 12,000 tonnes per annum,” said Wong during Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman’s visit to the farm recently. For now, the shrimp from the farm is sold to factories. However, in future, the farm would export its products to South Korea and Japan, where there was high demand, said Wong. He added that the farm expected to provide 3,000 jobs, more than 75 per cent of which would be for people from Pitas.
