PETALING JAYA: Top doubles pair Goh V Shem-Tan Wee Kiong began the new year as happy and relieved men. 14 tendered their resignation to the Badminton Associa­tion of Malaysia (BAM) yesterday, parting ways with the national team that they joined in 2007 to resume their career as professionals. V Shem-Wee Kiong will still have plenty to prove although they are no longer with the national team. V Shem-Wee Kiong, who combined in 2014, played their best badminton in 2016 when they won silver at the Rio Olympic Games. V Shem-Wee Kiong also struggled to shine at the World Championships in Nanjing, China, and the Indonesia Asian Games.
