( Peter Muller / GETTY IMAGES/Cultura RF )Baby simulator programs are used around the world, often in hopes of preventing teen pregnancy — but a new study shows they might actually make girls more likely to have a baby. Abortion rates were also higher, at 9 per cent for the girls in the parenting program compared to 6 per cent in the control group. “It definitely didn’t seem to put the girls off.” The program used by the participating schools is an Australian adaption of a program from American experiential learning technology company RealityWorks. It involves an infant simulator — a doll that cries when it needs to be fed, burped, rocked or changed and tracks crying time, improper handling like Shaken Baby Syndrome, and other aspects of infant care.
