In a statement, the central bank said it expected consumer price growth to “settle within the 5.8-6.6 percent range,” easing from October’s nine-year high of 6.7 percent. Meanwhile, Manila Electric Co.’s per kilowatt-hour (kWh) rate for households consuming 200 kWh monthly was also raised by P0.1135. The BSP has raised key interest rates five consecutive times so far this year, for a total of 175 basis points, after inflation breached the 2.0-4.0 percent target beginning March. Official November inflation data will be announced on December 5.
