African Democratic Congress (ADC) governorship candidate in the 2019 governorship election in Oyo State, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, on Tuesday, withdrew from the coalition with the state governor, Mr Seyi Makinde. Lanlehin, who is the leader of ADC, said in a statement that his withdrawal was consequent upon the reluctance of Governor Makinde to honour the terms of the pre-election agreement reached among the coalition parties. Lanlehin as ADC candidate, Sharafadeen Alli as Zenith Labour Party governorship candidate and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, teamed up to unseat the All Progressives Congress (APC) by stepping down for Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). It was gathered that there had been bottled up animosity over the implementation of the agreement shortly after the election. A series of peace meetings, it was gathered, were summoned to paper over the cracks, with elder statesman and Afenifere leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, intervening in one of the meetings.
