In Barisal-1, BNP Chairperson's adviser Zahir Uddin Swapan, contesting with the party's electoral symbol "Sheaf of Paddy," won with 100,552 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md. In Barishal-6 (Bakerganj), Abul Hossain Khan, district BNP convener, won the seat with 82,217 votes.
