In a statement, the BNP leader furthered: "Especially those opposition candidates who have the brightest prospects to be successful in the upcoming election are being arrested and denied bail." He also alleged that the lower court is delaying bail petition hearings for the prospective BNP candidates for political reasons. "These incidents indicatethat the government and the Election Commission are not sincere about holding a: free, fair, neutral, and inclusive election." Fakhrul demanded the government immediately release Khaleda, and her other party leaders, to ensure a fair election atmosphere.
