Police have detained BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy from Gulshan area in Dhaka, according to BNP. He was picked up around 9:30pm yesterday while he was returning home following a meeting at BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office, said the party’s press wing staff, Shamsuddin Didar. Speaking to the Dhaka Tribune, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Miah confirmed that Gayeshwar was arrested on “specific” charges. “Seven members of police were injured in the attack by leaders and activists of BNP. “Do you (government) think we’ll only shed tears if you send Khaleda Zia to jail?
