BNP has alleged that the government is not allowing Lord Carlile, a British legal expert and adviser to Khaleda Zia’s legal team, to come to Dhaka. He said Carlile applied for visa at the Bangladesh High Commission in London several weeks back to join Khaleda’s defence team during Tuesday’s hearing at the Supreme Court’s Appellate Division. We think the government did not give him the visa as it does not want Khaleda Zia’s legal team to get stronger,” Rizvi added. Rizvi on Tuesday also said: “The government is not allowing Carlile to come here. Earlier in the day, the Supreme Court adjourned the hearing on the leave-to-appeal petitions regarding Khaleda’s bail in the graft case till Wednesday.
