KUALA LUMPUR: Barisan Nasional (BN) is ensuring that digital economy and transparency is in the forefront of its endeavours for the next five years. It is aiming to create a total of one million digital entrepreneurs within five years, alongside its primary objective to have the digital economy contribute up to 25 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP) by 2023. It will look at the setting up of smart partnerships with international technology icons in order to further empower the Malaysian digital economy ecosystem which already include start-up grants and technology development funds. Not forgetting those in the outskirts, BN will also create digital training opportunities at 1Malaysia Internet Centres to prepare rural youths for jobs of the future. To ensure greater efficiencies in the councils, BN will also introduce the iKepoh application to enable the public to lodge complaints to their respective councils via smartphones.
