While the Geological Survey of India (GSI) that conducted the survey for the civic body has classified 20 of the 299 spots as ‘most vulnerable’, 40 others are at ‘moderate to high risk’. Depending on the ownership of the land, the civic body or the collectorate provides alternative accommodation or rehabilitation. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) plans to continue work on water pipelines in Bandra, Santacruz, Khar (West) and Mulund through the monsoon to complete the delayed project. The civic body is yet to build chambers and install pressure valves in water pipes which will ensure uninterrupted water supply through the day.
