Tura: A BJP booth-level workers' meet at Betasing in South West Garo Hills was cancelled on Thursday after the administration denied permission citing late submission of application. The denial of permission triggered angry protests from leaders of the party, who accused chief minister Mukul Sangma of orchestrating the incident. BJP candidate from Ampati, Bakul Hajong, said, "The Ampatigre Youth Welfare Organisation had organised the sammelan to welcome my candidature and had submitted an application to the deputy commissioner, seeking permission for the meeting, around 10.30am. South West Garo Hills deputy commissioner Cyril V.D. "There is a procedure to be followed when seeking permission for public meetings.
