₹328 crore allotted for Angamaly, Perumbavoor bypass projects

more-inThe proposal to construct a bypass at Angamaly and at Perumbavoor got a shot in the arm with the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) allotting ₹328 crore for them on Thursday. This includes ₹193 crore for the first phase of the Angamaly bypass project, in which a 5-km-long, 25-metre-wide road will link Karayamparambu and the Angamaly railway station. Another ₹135 crore has been set apart for the Perumbavoor bypass project. Though KITCO, which was entrusted with the feasibility study in 2013, estimated the Angamaly bypass work to cost ₹392 crore, KIIFB cited its inability to spare the amount in one go. A bypass at Perumbavoor is expected to lessen congestion in the busy town area where traffic snarls are common.
