Bista told the media here that the Mamata Banerjee government had not released adequate funds for the Kalimpong residents who were affected by the flood. The reason, he claimed, was that the Bengal government didn't announce it as a disaster, unlike Sikkim. “The central government has allocated ₹11,474 crore under the state disaster response fund across India, and Bengal will get around ₹1,200 crore. They can provide funds to other states... but Bengal too deserves funds as the flood had also affected hilly areas of our state,” Mamata had said.
