President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he would provide a plane to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) for the safe transport of high-value criminals. Citing security reasons especially in Mindanao, Duterte said he would purchase the plane for BJMP before the year ends. During the ceremony, BJMP Chief Jail Director Deogracias Tapayan said the new cars will help ease the challenge of transporting persons deprived of liberty (PDL) during their court hearings. “We’ll have to devise a way of transporting criminals, especially in the territory of Mindanao, which is fraught with so many dangers,” Duterte said in his speech. Maybe one for Mindanao and sa Visayas ‘pag we are transferring a high-profile, a high-value target, you will use the plane,” he added.
