Solicitor General Jose Calida has applauded the Supreme Court’s (SC) decision to dismiss the petition filed by Cebu-based businessman Peter Go Lim to stop the drug probe against him conducted by the Department of Justice (DOJ). “Although Mr. Lim remains at large to this day, the dismissal of his petition stands as proof that the judicial system in the Philippines is at its best,” he added. “The OSG took the cudgels as counsel for the PNP-CIDG (Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group) and was successful in establishing probable cause that led to the filing of criminal informations in the Regional Trial Court of Makati against Mr. Lim, Mr. Peter Co, Mr. Kerwin Espinosa, et al,” he said. Earlier this year, the OSG submitted various pieces of evidence to strengthen the government’s case against Lim, self-confessed drug distributor Kerwin Espinosa, convicted drug-lord Peter Co, and several others. /eeREAD: OSG submits more evidence in bid to nail Peter Lim, KerwinRead Next
