In a congratulatory message, the Secretary General extended warm greetings to Tarique Rahman on leading the BNP to a decisive electoral win. Bangladesh is a founding member and hosts the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), which promotes collaboration in areas including trade, connectivity, energy, security and people-to-people exchanges among member states.
