Sri Lanka’s Secretary of Defence says there is no need for the public to panic over the ‘fake email’ received by the country’s airport authorities regarding a security threat. The defence and law enforcement agencies are continuing their duties in the same vein without letting anyone disrupt the lasting peace,” the Ministry of Defence said. This comes after several media reports circulated yesterday (16) detailed that an email was received via the official BIA website, threatening an attack on the airport. Speaking to The Morning yesterday, Airport Duty Manager Ruwan Priyadarshana confirmed that despite this, operations at BIA continue to function as normal. “We have received the same information, operations are continuing as usual but security has been tightened,” he stated.
