From January to December in 2018, BGB seized different types of smuggled goods worth Tk903.74 crore which included drugs, weapons, bullets and explosives. The seized drugs included 1,26,58,518 yaba pills; 79,286 bottles of foreign liquor; 4,608 litres of locally made liquor; 36,435 cans of beer; 3,59,150 bottles of phensedyl, 13,682 kg of marijuana, 33.351 kg of heroin, 8,34,695 pieces of addiction craving injections. Other smuggled goods included 195.789 kg gold; 93,800 saris, 26,085 three piece women suits; 1,18,839 metres of fabrics; 43,059 readymade garments; 2,38,502 cubic feet of wood and 72,479 kg of tea leaves. BGB said 2,705 people were accused of drug trading, trafficking and smuggling and 1,316 Bangladeshi citizens were detained for illegally crossing the border last year.
