Some Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) members allegedly beat up two men after being prohibited from smoking inside an air conditioned bakery shop, and later demanded ransom after holding one of them. The accused are Ariful Islam Jisun, deputy secretary of Science and Technology Affairs of Chhatra League central unit, and S M Rakib, organising secretary of Chhatra League Fazlul Haque Muslim Hall unit. When asked about the matter, Fazlul Haque Hall unit President Shahriar Siddique Shishim said he got to know about the incident Sunday morning as he was out of the hall. “Action will be taken against them, if the Chhatra League leaders are found guilty,” he added. Denying the allegations, Chhatra League central unit President Saifur Rahman Shohag said: “It was nothing but a misunderstanding between the shop owner and the Chhatra League leaders.
