In the Premier League team, there were four midfielders who came close to taking a spot. Aston Villa's Jack Grealish, Wolves' Adama Traore, Leicester's James Maddison and Liverpool's Georginio Wijnaldum were contenders. In the WSL team, Chelsea's Erin Cuthbert and Sophie Ingle came close, as did Liverpool's Rachel Furness and Reading's Fara Williams.
