A British Columbia man is facing charges after a tense confrontation involving RCMP on the TransCanada Highway near Medicine Hat, Alta. They say the vehicle was seen travelling at 163 km/h, more than 50 km/h over the posted speed limit. He will appear in provincial court in Medicine Hat on Tuesday. RCMP officers moved in to prevent the attempted carjacking, saying the driver refused to co-operate and was placed under arrest only after "much struggle." Mounties say that on Canada Day their Redcliff, Alta., detachment received three separate calls of an erratic driver passing other cars on the shoulder of the highway.
