Ada Wodu, CalabarCross River State Governor, Prof Ben Ayade, has appointed caretaker committees for the 18 local government areas of the state. Elected chairmen completed their tenures in December 2016 and since then election has not been conducted by the Cross River State Electoral Commission to pick new council chairmen. Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr John Ulafor, announced the appointment of the caretaker committees in a statement issued in Calabar on Thursday. Among the newly appointed caretaker committee members for Calabar Municipality Council is a veteran journalist, Okokon Ukpanyang. Another journalist, Emerald Ojong, is among the caretaker committee members appointed for Ikom Local Government Council.
