The prelate, who spoke to journalists ahead of the exercise, said that INEC and security agencies must remain neutral. He noted that the presidential election was important to the development of the country’s democracy, adding that violence and stealing of electoral materials must not be allowed. He said, “Those saddled with the responsibility of overseeing the election must ensure its smooth conduct and see that it is free and fair. “A credible poll would go a long way in redeeming the battered image of Nigeria, locally and internationally. “The growing spate of violence, burning of electoral materials and other forms of hooliganism that have characterised recent events can be described as barbaric and unhealthy for our democracy.
