Awami League delegation to visit India at BJP's invitation

The high commissioner said the visit of the Awami League delegation would “enhance the bonding between the level of political parties, and level of people to people contact”. The visit is going to be the first of its kind since the ruling Awami League came to power in 2014 for the second consecutive term. The bilateral relations between Bangladesh and India reached a new height in the last 10 years after Awami League came to power in 2009. Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year assured his counterpart Sheikh Hasina during the New Delhi visit to resolve the issue during his tenure. A senior official at the foreign ministry told bdnews24.com that the new Indian external affairs secretary, Vijay Keshav Gokhale, will visit Bangladesh by March as part of his SAARC countries visit.
