Feb 27 I released my review of Tesla Autopilot -- and then on Feb 28, Tesla released new pricing and details on Autopilot, some effective today, some coming in the future. Uber switched in early 2018 to having only one such safety driver, and did a poor job training and vetting such drivers. As in the Tesla demonstration video, safety drivers do not keep their hands on the wheel. There is still debate about numbers Tesla released on improved safety with Autopilot: That drivers using Autopilot have fewer accidents than Tesla drivers not using it. Many teams have developed cars that can run around town with safety drivers.
