The Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency says it has thwarted an attempt to smuggle petrol to neighbouring countries and seized two four-wheel-drive vehicles in the southern city of Kufra. In a statement released by its media office, the agency said desert patrols monitoring suspected routes intercepted two Toyota vehicles – a Tundra and a Sequoia – as they allegedly attempted to flee the scene. The vehicles were transferred to the agency’s branch headquarters in Kufra pending the completion of legal procedures, the statement added. The agency said its desert patrols would continue pre-emptive operations aimed at securing Libya’s borders, protecting desert roads and dismantling smuggling networks.
