Auckland art-lover's utterly gorgeous 1887 home

“New Zealand art is incredibly strong and incredibly inexpensive compared to art internationally,” says Stephanie Post with all the authority of a woman who is co-director of the Auckland Art Fair. Jane Ussher/NZ House & Garden Artist Lisa Reihana created this work titled the Wharema Triptych especially for the house in 2017 from her series In Pursuit of Venus Infected. Jane Ussher/NZ House & Garden Twin phoenix palms add a tropical note to this most English of buildings, built in 1887 and called Wharema, and a garden filled with English roses and lavender. Notwithstanding her awareness of the value of New Zealand art, Stephanie says she never buys with investment in mind and she doesn’t spend a lot.
