The accused Abdul Wadud, 42, is the son of late Abdul Mazid, and a member of 34-BGB in Cox’s Bazar. Wadud reportedly lured the minor girl to a room next to his house on March 11, with promises of treating her to ice cream. When the girl became uncomfortable and started screaming, he sent her away with Tk 5. On March 14, some villagers confronted him at a local market with their suspicions, leading to an altercation. Burichong police station officer-in-charge Mozammel Haque said Wadud had been sent to prison through court in a case filed over the rape attempt.
