Deputy Minister for Education, Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune on Monday. Earlier in the day, Dhaka University (DU) administration suspended all classes and examinations from March 18 till 28 in an effort to stem the spread of coronavirus in Bangladesh. Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) recommended the university authorities "shutdown the university temporarily or announce summer vacation early after rescheduling," and placed a memorandum to that effect with the vice chancellor on Sunday morning. Till date, eight cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in Bangladesh. Educational institutions closed in other countriesMeanwhile, India's Delhi, West Bengal, and Goa announced that all educational institutes would remain shut till the end of March as part of measures to combat the spread of the coronavirus.
