Athletic track used by country's top athletesWARWICK SMITH/STUFF Australian Brandon Starc holds the track's high jump record. The North Island Colgate Games and North Island Inter-Provincial under-16 and under-18 teams' championships have seen many of the top young athletes compete in the city. The Australian Development team competed at the 2011 Cooks Classic and many graduated to representing their country at the Olympics. With the closure of the Palmerston North Track next month, George McConachy had advised the following provisional training venues: Monday, Tuesday Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Skoglund Park and Wednesday and Sunday at Papaioea Park. A reminder to local athletes that the links to entries for the upcoming classic meeting have been posted on the Palmerston North Club's Facebook page.
