First-time title wins at bowls finalsWARWICK SMITH/STUFF Shane Rogers won his third open singles title at the weekend. It was not a final of great bowls but it was nevertheless a very good contest against Northern's Craig Gush. As an aside, I rated the effectiveness of all bowls played in the game as part of my selectors role. Rogers won consecutive titles in 2007-08 and 2008-09 and was playing under considerable personal stress – he was quite emotional when it was all over. Perhaps it may be better to hold over all finals and hold the finals day on the Sunday to prevent the clash.
