At least 26 people were killed and 36 were injured when an overcrowded bus fell off a cliff in western Nepal, the chief district officer said Friday. Krishna Chandra Poudel said the accident occurred late Thursday afternoon in Jajarkot district around 580km west of Kathmandu. “Carrying passengers double the available seats of the bus could be the main reason behind the accident,” Poudel said, adding rescue services were delayed by around four hours in reaching the accident site. He said the 35-seater bus fell off a 200 meter-cliff killing 15 people on the spot. One of the worst accidents occurred in August in northern Nepal, which left 33 dead and about 40 injured after an overcrowded bus fell off a cliff.
