Coastal Otago and Southland recorded their hottest temperatures of the summer so far. The MetService has issued an Orange heavy rain warning for the headwaters of the Otago lakes and rivers. There was also an Orange warning for Fiordland. ‘‘Two periods of heavy rain are expected during Sunday and Monday, with up to 220mm possible.’’‘‘Heavy rain may cause streams and rivers to rise rapidly. An Orange warning for strong winds in parts of Otago and Southland has also been issued by the MetService.
