On Friday, a spokesman for Immigration Minister Iain Lees-Galloway said following the correspondence the case was referred to the Associate Immigration Minister Kris Faafoi, who reviewed all cases referred to the minister. If the Immigration Minister and Associate Immigration Minister, along with Immigration New Zealand, did not see fit to let him stay, Zierler would be headed back to the US, via Australia, in March 2018.
