The suspects Mahama Abubakari 40, and Ibrahim Owusu Sekyere 37, have all been arrested by the police. According to the Ashante Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Juliana Obeng, further checks discovered a white sack containing an AK47 assault rifle and 56 rounds of live ammunition. The Police PRO told the media that one of the suspects, Mahama Abubakari has claimed ownership of the weapons but mentioned one Amadu Yakubu, a 51-year-old Ivorian as the one behind the supply. The Police PRO added that the Ivorian, Amadu Yakubu has also admitted to the police that he got the weapons during the Ivory Coast civil unrest and brought some to Ghana for sale.
