What’s particularly troubling about QAnon’s embrace of Trump rallies is its love for armed conflict and quasi-military associations: This crowd likes guns. Trump not only needs to use the mainstream media as a foil — a convenient and ever-present enemy. That’s a fantasy, of course, given how crucial this coordinated anti-media messaging is for Trump. Nevertheless, it would be a way for him to show that he is more than just the president of his base.
