Arts trust considering its options for Womad 2021

The trust behind Womad New Zealand is considering its options for next year's festival as the coronavirus pandemic plays havoc with the international events industry. Event director Emere Wano said the Taranaki Arts Festival Trust was weighing up four choices, including cancelling the 2021 event. Other options include running a standard Womad with international artists, including Ziggy Marley, who was already secured as a headline act after pulling out of the 2020 line-up, or having a trans-Tasman Womad or a Kiwi Womad. It could also cost the trust hundreds of thousands if it had to pay for the two-week quarantining of international artists. If the trans-Tasman option is chosen, international artists living across the ditch will be signed along with world artists calling New Zealand home.
